Take a quick trip to the Italian Coastline, with this delicious recipe for Mussels Fra Diavolo. "Fra Diavolo" in Italian translates to "devil brother", so be warned there is a beautiful little kick of spice brought to the dish from the addition of crushed red pepper. Pair these fresh, wine doused mussels, with a crusty bread for dipping and soaking up sauce, you'll feel like you've died and gone to heaven!
Ingredients
- 1 Jar Pasta Jay’s Marinara Sauce
- Olive Oil
- 1/2 cup minced shallot
- 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- 2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 3 lbs mussels, scrubbed and debearded
- fresh chopped parsley, for serving
- Bread, for serving
- Lemon, for serving
How To Make
STEP 1: In a large saucepan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the shallot, garlic and crushed red pepper and cook stirring until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the wine and boil until reduced by half, about 3 minutes. Stir in Pasta Jay's Marinara Sauce and bring to a simmer.
STEP 2: Add the mussels, cover and cook until opened, 7-9 minutes; be sure discard any mussels that do not open. Season lightly with salt, then transfer the mussels and sauce to a platter.
STEP 3: Sprinkle with chopped parsley and lemon wedges on the side. Serve immediately with bread.
